Winners Announced in Annual Veterans Day Youth Essay Contest
Bank of the Islands is pleased to share this article recognizing the award winners for this year’s Annual Veterans Day Youth Essay Contest on Sanibel.
“It’s been our pleasure to support this wonderful program over the years,” said Bank of the Islands CEO Robbie Roepstorff. “We are so grateful to the City of Sanibel and the Lee Coast Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America for their leadership in organizing the contest every fall. It provides a very special platform for young islanders to show their patriotism and their gratitude for those who have protected our country and its values through their military service.”
The article, as published by Breeze Newspapers in multiple media outlets, follows:
Sixth-grader Emma Dellenback and fourth-grader Aubrey Wilson are the winners of the Annual Veterans Day Youth Essay Contest, sponsored by the city of Sanibel’s Recreation Department and the Lee Coast Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America.
In addition, fourth-graders Max Brodeur and Christopher Erickson received Honorable Mention Awards for their essays.
Emma and Aubrey will each receive $100 checks provided by Bank of the Islands, while Max and Christopher will each receive $50 checks from the bank.
All four youths will read their essays during the MOAA and city’s Annual “Salute to our Community’s Veterans,” the 2020 virtual Veterans Day ceremony. The event will be released on the city’s Website and Facebook page and sent via the city’s e-mailed “News You Can Use” service on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.
