Bank of the Islands steps up as Presenting Sponsor for the 2025 Coastal Cleanup

Bank of the Islands is leading our islands’ annual conservation community event once again this year. Serving as the Presenting Corporate Sponsor, the Bank is partnering with SCCF to present the local Coastal Cleanup event on Saturday, September 21.

Besides the financial underwriting of t-shirts and other event expenses, Bank of the Islands will also be bringing a large team of volunteers to help clean beaches on Sanibel and Captiva. With volunteer signups already closed, more than 400 volunteers will be collecting and removing trash and fishing debris from the local island beaches.

Last year, these local efforts cleared 1,180 pounds of trash and debris off beaches and shorelines. Everything from cigarette butts, construction materials, balloons, fishing line, plastic packaging and more were collected and removed.

“This is such an important annual event for our banking family,” said Robbie Roepstorff. “It means so much to all our staff to work together as we give back to our Lee County community. We look forward to having a great time for a great cause once again this year!”

The local Coastal Cleanup efforts are coordinated by SCCF and Keep Lee County Beautiful as part of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup. According to the Ocean Conservancy, 18 million volunteers have cleaned more than 350,000 miles of shoreline collecting in excess of 380 million pounds of trash in the 30+ years of this international effort.
